Niagara falls Hotel

Niagara falls part 2

Niagara falls part 2
Royal web site
And what a experience that was! Parked just a little way from the Niagara falls park and got in to our coats as it was pretty COLD!!! The river that feeds into the Niagara falls or should I say makes the Niagara falls was amazing! It was full of rapids and I mean BIG ones! Taller then Dad!
They had lit all the river up as well! So you could see them very well!
But the funniest thing was a sign saying, “ No water entry, Violators will be prosecuted! When really it should have said No water entry, Violators will die! Because no one could live if they went in that water! There were no fences along the river! Then we come to the falls! I don’t know if I will ever see any as amazing as that ever again! Imagine this, you are walking along a path in the dark with a raging river beside you and you look up a head and there everything just seems to drop! You walk along more and you see rainbow colored mist coming up from what looks like a huge hole
( because you can see Canada on the other side!) Then you come to the place where everything just seems to drop and you are standing on the edge of the Niagara falls!!!!!!!!!!!! With what seems to you a very weak fence holding you back! I really felt the wonderful power of God there! When back to the car as it was getting rather cold! Drove back to our lovely hotel and thus began the night I will never forget!

Here again I want you to imagine ( by the way only Ruth, Paul and I were the ones who experienced this as we were in another room to Dad and Mum and John!)

Imagine you are lying in bed and you are nearly asleep, when suddenly for no reason that you can see, the toilet flushes by its self, it makes a crash, bang, pop sound but that’s not the worsted as it does that every hour!
So ok you say I can live with that! But what about the fridge zing all night and the heater banging and bonging all night and dogs barking ( we found out later that we were right next to a dog boarding house!) and the people having a very loud conversation at midnight! You are not in the best of moods to see you little brother ( who by the way had a great nights sleep!)
Happy and loudly say “ Oh you’re still in bed! Ok you probably know what happens then!

After that we packed the car, ( the sooner we were out of the Hotel the better!)
And drove to Niagara falls, the park! It seemed much bigger then last night!
We walked over a bridge and then we were standing on an island with the falls raging all around us! It was amazing! Walked over to the Horse shoe falls! Was better then the last set of falls we had been at! Went on the 3 sisters island and got to go really close to the raging river!
Went to the car had lunch! Then we drove to the Canadian border!
Had to pay 3 dollars and show our passports and Dads visa! We were in another country!
We parked the car and walked down along the front of Canada over looking the falls and USA. It looked really lovely as you could see both falls at the same time! Just as we were walking along we heard a Lady talking to her son and we all KNEW she was a kiwi!!!!!!!! We were so excited, Mum went and asked her….. And Yes she was from the New Zealand! She didn’t seem that excited to see us as she had only been the a few days and she was going back in a few days but we were over the moon! I can see why Americans like our accent because I REALLY liked her one! Paul, John and I found an old dried up fountain that was full of Canadian one cents, so we got lots of Canadian money! Decided to go back as it was getting rather late! So we
Went back over the border. There was lots of cars trying to get back.
When it was finely our turn we had to show our passports and things and he looked at them a long time and then took them away! We had to go and park in a special car park and go to a special room and wait there, after a while he came out and gave us our passports back and we were free to go!
But we had to go passed another police before we could get in our car and drive away. Well the rest is rather boring ( 8 hour drive back home, there was no way we were going to stay another night at the Hotel!) But I will just tell you this, that was one of the amazing things I have ever done, and even though I am not that keen on doing the 8 trip or the Hotel stay again, I thank God, that he gave me a chance to see one of his most amazing creations! I hope this has helped you to see a little of it too!

NIAGARA FALLS

On the 1/11/07 at 6am we were up cleaning getting ready for the trip to Niagara falls, packing mostly everything we owned well… ok not quite but since I was the trying to stuff everything in the car it seemed like that!
Then since I found out (after a lot of the packing was done) that we would be staying in a hotel that we didn’t need so much stuff, some had to be unpacked again! Then a finial mop of the floor, should the land agent come while we were away, and we were off ! We stopped of at uconn to get some paper work so that if we wanted we could go over to Canada!
That took a while, and since there was no car park Mum had to keep driving round and round, took a wrong turn and got lost , managed to find our way back, and picked up Dad who thankfully had the paper work! By then it was 12am but no one wanted to hang around eating lunch so we ate as we drove!
We drove and we drove! To give you a bit of a taste of what it was like
Let me tell you it was an 8 hour drive there but with countless toll booths and stretch of the legs stops and stopping at AAA, it was probably more like 10 hours there! We were so excited about staying the night in New York state,( Niagara falls is in New York State) Because we had never stayed in a hotel before! The Hotel was called Royal Hotel, and Dad had said before we had left to put our togs in just in case they had a heated swimming pool !
Well were we in for a shock! We arrived at our hotel to see a lovely flash looking hotel only to find we were looking on the wrong side of the road!
Now this was what ( us kids and I think Mum to) thought we would see!
Big sky scraper, with men at the door to take our bags and things like that well I don’t know why we thought that as I don’t think our family would ever go in one of those but that’s what was in our minds! This is what it really was!
A row of houses that looked like they were made from garages, inside the light was all bent, a draw was a smashed off, picture not even properly in the frame, rubbish stuffed behind the TV, floor went up and down so much when you walked that we thought it was on wheels! But no just another lovely part of staying in a Royal Hotel! The only drinking water was the stuff that came out of the bath or the hand basin! Unpacked and had tea, heater was not working in one of the rooms ( we had rented two room) so we couldn’t go to bed till the man had come and do something to it, but he was at a meeting and we had no idea when he would be back! So we went to see the Niagara falls in the night because Mum had read that they lit them up at night till 12pm! To be continued

Apple Picking

On the 6/10/07 we went apple picking! With The ICF (international Christian fellowship Friday night). We went at 10.30 to met everyone at the church, Ruth didn’t go! Dad had to full some papers out and then we were off! Our friends Jonathan and Rosie came in our car! We drove for about 2 hours and then we had arrived! The place was packed full of people! We went over to a stall that you could get free Cider
( apple juice) at so we all had some of that, they made it there so it was very fresh Cider. We walked round for a bit and then went on a hay ride we had to wait in line for a while as there was so many people but at lest there was more then one hay ride! The hay ride was just a tuck or tractor pulling a trailer with hay bails on it round and you sit on the bails of hay!! Still quite fun though! Stopped at a field that was covered in pumpkins! Got out and looked at all the pumpkins, there were some really big ones there! You could take them back to the shop and have them weighed and then buy them, but we didn’t as those ones are not that good for eating only in cooking such as pumpkin pies and bread! I think most people were just buying them for carving , not eating them. When we had got back, we went and got a huge apple to eat as you were aloud to eat as many apples as you wanted when you were there, but if you wanted to take any home you had to buy them! It was a huge apple! Went an saw how they made caramel apples, but while we were there their machine jammed, and didn’t work. We also saw how they made apple cider, by squeezing the apples into pulp! No one wore any gloves though! The we had some more cider, then we went home. It was a really fun day
